Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center Community Outreach & Engagement Office Offerings

Founded in 1983, the Fred & Pamela Buffet Cancer Center was established to bring together advanced cancer care, cutting-edge research, and education for Nebraska, the region, and beyond. Our mission is to integrate basic, translational, and clinical cancer research with educational programs, aiming to advance the understanding of the causes and risk factors of cancers, improve diagnosis, enhance treatment, and work toward prevention.
Health Screenings at the Ball
The Galleri Multi-Cancer Early Detection (GRAIL) test is a great way to monitor for early warning signs in multi-cancers. These tests cannot diagnose cancer, but they can give individuals a chance to know early if they need to go in for additional diagnostic testing. Early diagnosis can not only improve the diagnosis, but can help with quality of life and prognosis for the individual affected.
To get a test at the ball, please pre-register for a time for the blood draw. No need to fast prior to the the test, but come hydrated. Following the blood draw, you will receive your results from the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center Community Outreach and Engagement team within 2-3 weeks after your sample is received at the GRAIL lab.
The Galleri test is being offered at a special event price of $699.
Payment is not required at the time of testing, as GRAIL bills the patient directly after the sample has been collected and processed. Patients have several flexible payment options available, including the ability to provide a credit card at time of collection. According UNMC, most patients choose to handle payment after the test is completed. GRAIL also offers interest-free payment plans for up to 12 months, as well as the option to use FSA/HSA funds.
